People are important to us

Dusted & Delicious is a family operated catering company based in central Wellington, where we have been doing our thing since 2000.

We have a strong 'people first' focus, where our staff are the most important people in our business.  We believe if staff are happy, respect and care for their colleagues, they will treat our guests in the same way. Therefore we put staff first, followed by guests, community, suppliers and shareholders.

At Dusted & Delicious we love Hospitality and know to achieve Hospitality Excellence we need the right people on board.  When we are employing staff we are looking for 51% ers  -  51% of what we look for in employees is a personality fit with our company values, character, personal perception and how they make people feel.  49%  of what we are looking for is technical ability.  If you have the right fit and attitude we can teach you the technical skills.

Our Journey

2000

The beginning

Dusted & Delicious began life in 2000 with just two part-time cooks catering for friends and family from a domestic kitchen. Today we are a full time catering company with two HOME cafes and an online baking business.

For 12 years we operated from a commercial kitchen at the Te Whaea Dance and Drama Centre in Newtown. We also operated a small in-house café ‘The Purple Hatch’ for the dance and drama students, and teachers.

The core business for Dusted & Delicious has always been catering where we pride ourselves on providing real food with maximum flavour and minimum fuss.  Food that is satisfying and unpretentious.  To read more about Dusted & Delicious, click on the logo to the left.

HOME @ the National Library & a larger commercial kitchen

In November 2012 we opened HOME café in the National Library in Molesworth Street, and moved to a larger commercial kitchen in Hotel St George, Willis St.

HOME is a stone's throw from Parliament and the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul. It is a busy, vibrant space that welcomes guests from all over. Warm and sheltered on the rare bad whether day, with a great outdoor space to enjoy the sun on a more typical Wellington day! We make all the delicious food we sell at our Dusted & Delicious kitchen and support our favourite coffee brand, Havana.
We feed and caffinate, movers and shakers from the Beehive to the corporate world, international and local
tourists, through to families, children, retirees, researchers, students, and everything in between. To read more about HOME cafe, click on the logo to the left.

HOME on Stout

Opened in August 2014, HOME on Stout is based in an historical building that was originally the NZ Defence Building.  The building was completely refurbished to house MBIE (Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment). When we opened there were 1700 people in the building, and over 20 meeting rooms on the ground floor alone, that we provided tea, coffee and catering to.

Unfortunately the building was closed to the public following the horrific Christchurch Mosque Shooting and security concerns.  Our business is now caffinating and feeding MBIE staff and catering.  To read more about HOME cafe, click on the logo to the left.

Home Baked

Immediately following the 2015 Kaikoura earthquake we set up an online Christmas baking gift service. With so many businesses closed or relocated and less catering orders coming in, it was a way to reach our community, and keep our own lights on and hands busy. This sowed the seeds for what is now Home Baked.

Home Baked was launched in November 2019 and is an online baking service offering classic kiwi baking like caramel slice, Afghan and Belgium biscuits, and ginger crunch.  To read more about Home Cafe click on the logo to the left.
